OWC Company has announced the release of a new model of the external high-speed optical drive, the Mercury Pro 8x Blu-ray Quad Interface burner.

New interface is equipped with USB 2.0, eSATA, FireWire 800 and FireWire 400, and the ability to work with Windows platforms and Mac. The device offers the speed of read and write Blu-ray discs at up to 8X, DVD - 16X, CD - 32X. In the market of such products will be presented in two kind of equipment:

* $ 399.99 - Two Disc BD-R capacity of 25 GB each;
* $ 479.99 - Two Disc BD-R capacity of 25 GB each, and 10 on Roxio Toast Titanium.

Sales of these drives will begin soon. Also recalled is recently the company introduced the LaCie external writer Blu-ray drive with similar specifications.
