CrunchPad, Internet tablet with new design and Intel Atom processor
We have already reported that the project team presented a prototype of TechCrunch inexpensive Internet tablet. And this new leak testified that the device is called CrunchPad has undergone serious changes. First of all, the Tablet PC design became much thinner and fine. CPU VIA Nano, used in the previous version, replaced by more traditional devices such Intel Atom chip. In addition, the new version is installed over a wide 12-inch touchscreen, which should become easier to use.
And programmatic changes were filling the floor, which has become much more efficient. The new version works on a specially developed distribution Linux, and uses the browser on the engine WebKit, occupying only 100 MB of memory.
Despite changes in the external and internal design, scope of the possible use of the Internet tablet CrunchPad remains almost exclusively a web-browsing in a variety of its manifestations. To this end, the device is equipped with a storage capacity of 4 GB to save the downloaded content from the network, a camera for shooting photos and video captured with the function of placing material on specific sites, as well as the USB port for connecting peripheral devices, and the onscreen keyboard for a set of messages.
While the release date internet tablet CrunchPad is still unknown, the new prototype is described as a much more close to the final version. He even has a sample package. It also remains a mystery, and the cost of the device. However, founder TechCrunch Michael Arrington is still believed that the entire system will cost only 300 dollars, which is significantly less than new models netbook, tablet computers and some MID devices.
