Apple Announces New iMac, 20 and 24 Inches

new-apple-imacApple updates its line of iMac computers, with two new models of 20 and 24 inches.

The new 20-inch iMac is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz (Apple before offering 2.66GHz and 2.4GHz), 2GB of DDR3 memory at 1066 MHz (with a maximum of 8GB for all models of iMac) hard drive 320GB Serial ATA, and Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM (models above 20 inches using the most discrete ATI Radeon graphics).

new_apple_imac-2The 24-inch iMac comes in three configurations, with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz, 2.93GHz and 3.06GHz (the previous generation offering 2.8GHz and 3.06GHz), 4GB of DDR3 memory at 1066 MHz (double the previous models) and a Serial ATA hard disk of 640GB or 1TB.

The model with 2.66GHz processor includes the same Nvidia GeForce 9400M integrated graphics that the iMac 20-inch model with 2.93GHz processor uses GeForce 120 GT with 256MB of GDDR3 memory, and the iMac with a 3.06GHz processor, NVIDIA GeForce graphics 130 GT with 512MB of memory GDDR3.

new_apple_imac-1Every new iMac models come with glossy screen, built iSight video camera, microphone and speakers.

The new iMac also includes the Mini DisplayPort Apple AirPort Extreme 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Gigabit Ethernet built in, a total of six USB 2.0 ports (including two on the keyboard) and one FireWire 800 port.

The cost of the new iMac is 1,199 dollars for the 20-inch model, while the 24-inch starts at 1499 dollars.
